The history

The Nordic Society for Vascular Anomalies (NSVA) emanates from the former Vaskulära lesionssällskapet that was created in 1997 at the initiative of Dr.  Pål Svendsen (neuroradiologist at Sahlgrenska hospital, Gothenburg, Sweden). The basic concept of the society was to arrange informal meetings and exchange experience in the treatment of hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Later, several groups from Norway and Denmark joined the society which consequently became the NSVA. NSVA was formalized and officially founded at a scientific meeting held in Oslo in May 2009.
